Cats & Ducks

Hurrah

I have been having so many problems updating photos to this blog site for the last couple of months - hopefully I have solved the problem........

The above photo is of my neighbours lovely kittens Holly & Poppy - they come and greet me every day and allow me to stroke them and even tickle their tummies. I love watching them play in the garden especially when our cat Judy goes out and plays with them.I've even got my two ducks back in the garden at the moment - they come and stay for a couple of months each year - it's brilliant watching them. I've put out a cat litter tray(unused) with water in it for them to use as a pond!!! They love splashing about in it.

Snowman

I thought you would like to see the christmas card that I gave to Pauline a friend from Preston Lacemakers group. I am a newish member of this group and Pauline has took me under her wing and has been teaching me tatting and crochet. She gave me a lovely hand made card for my birthday and I said I would have to make her a handmade card for christmas.
Well I did it - my first attempt at making lace and here it is.

A lace snowman.

Pauline was very pleased with it.

Merry Xmas everyone and a Happy New Year.

Happy Xmas

I have put up my christmas decorations at last - very minimal. I have decided that I am having an alternative style christmas tree - which I quite like for a change.

I have also been busy making a wreath for my mums grave which I was quite pleased with.

Merry Christmas

Can't believe where this year has gone and we are now at Christmas. I haven't posted for a while - so I thought I would update you by showing you a couple of pics.

This is at a craft fair at Samlesbury Hall that The Three Stitches ( Sue, Caroline  & me) displayed and sold our work at.

This last photo is our stall at a recent craft fair at Chipping Village Hall which we all enjoyed doing.

Festival of Quilts - NEC,Birmingham

Had a lovely day at the Festival of Quilts with my friend Sue Chisnall-Sumner. We had a good spend and enjoyed looking at all the quilts on exhibition.
Bought some marbling supplies between us, so we will be having a playday with these soon and will post photos of our marblings.
Here are some photos I took of quilts and 3d items in the exhibition.

Birthday Girl

It was my birthday last Saturday and I had a lovely day at Preston Lace Makers group.
I have been a member for about 18 months and really enjoy going to meetings as I never fail to learn some new skill.
This month I was shown how to make a Japanese Ring Thimble by a nice lady called Felicity who heard me say to Pauline another member that I was sorry to have missed the workshop in June when members where shown how to make them.
Here is my finished thimble – it looks mega larger than it is as I took a close up of the ring to show the pattern.

I have started on a second one and will post a picture when it’s finished……………………..

Spirit of Place continued

As you know I am a member of Natural Progression Textile Group and our exhibition “Spirit of Place” is to continue at Alston Hall until 30th August 2014

There was a write up about our exhibition in the Lancashire Evening Post last night – I was unable to go to Alston Hall for the photo shoot – and it looks really good. A full page with a good write up and photos of some of our members and their pieces of work. Well done to Sue Chisnall-Sumner for getting us this attention.

We are also very pleased that our group have been accepted by the Museum of Lancashire to exhibit in 2016 which I will let you know more about when we have exact dates etc.
